Folia Medica Cracoviensia
Folia Medica Cracoviensia is quarterly peer-reviewed medical journal publishing research in clinical medicine and broadly defined biomedical and basic sciences. The journal has been published since 1959 as a scientific quarterly of the Medical Sciences Commission of the Kraków Branch of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS). Since 2012, it has been co-published with the Jagiellonian University Medical College.
Since 2013, the journal has been published entirely in English and is indexed in major international databases, including Index Medicus, Scopus, Index Copernicus, MEDLINE/PubMed, EBSCO, the Polish Medical Bibliography, and Polona. It is also listed in the SCImago Journal & Country Rank database.
Since 2025, the journal has been available in both print and electronic formats via the PAS Journals platform. All content is archived in the Portico repository (Ithaka) in accordance with international digital preservation standards.
Folia Medica Cracoviensia operates under a Diamond Open Access model (CC BY 4.0), with no article processing charges for authors. Full-text articles are freely available via PubMed and the journal website: https://journals.pan.pl/fmc.
The journal follows the ethical standards of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and is included in the list of scientific journals of the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education, with a score of 70 points.
The journal occasionally publishes supplementary issues, including materials from the Jagiellonian University Doctoral Students’ Conference and the Polish Cardiac Society – Experimental Cardiology Section meetings.
The journal is currently implementing the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform for manuscript submission, peer review, and editorial workflow. Full migration to OJS is planned for the second half of 2026 to further improve efficiency and editorial standards.
